Ren

I've tried many a facial in my time-some have given me skin that was a bit 'meh', others have given me an outbreak of spots, others have caused my face to shine like the moon but every so often there's one that gives me that elusive glow, skin like a baby and makes me forget what a spot even is.

I stumbled across 'Ren' when my boyfriend and I took a trip to 'Bedruthen Steps Hotel' in Newquay and went for the spa package which included one thirty minute treatment and use of the hotel pool, steam room, sauna...you know the kind of thing. I went for a facial just because I find them more relaxing than anything else and your face is the first thing people notice so you want it to be at its best. I loved the smell of the products and the fact there's something for every type of skin issue such as oily T-Zone (me), combination, dry, normal, sensitive etc rather than lumping everyone under dry and giving you one thick oil slick of a moisturiser and a harsh scrub that will take three layers of skin off. They're also not that expensive and can be found in most department stores so you're not having to hunt high and low or get it online without being able to give it a go first.

After the facial I immediately saw a difference. I'd been told that my T-Zone would have a lovely matte finish and my skin tone would be more even and that's exactly what I got. I don't know if the steam room and sauna helped as well but I've never had such lovely skin! I didn't feel like I needed to wear make up afterwards to cover any blotchiness or a shiny red face because it just looked like my own face but better.

I had two facials a couple of months later by 'Elemis' and 'Carita' because I couldn't find anywhere that did 'Ren' facials near my home (maybe I wasn't looking hard enough because I live in a major city!) but one actually brought my skin out in a rash so I just left it and went in search of some 'Ren' products I could try at home.

I've got some facial polishes, cleansers and toners that work pretty well already but I always want to give moisturisers a go because I feel like they're the real treat for your skin and the richer the better. Unfortunately  that usually makes my T-Zone super shiny and my make up slides off after a while so I knew I needed something that would perform as well at night as it does under my make up.

I went for the 'T-Zone Balancing Day Fluid' by 'Ren' for combination to oily skin at £26 (luckily I had Christmas vouchers).

I needed three or four pumps for my whole face as I felt like it sank in as soon as it touched my skin.

It has quite a nice sheen to it and smells exactly like a spa.

I love the fact 'Ren' doesn't test on animals (always a winner!) and that it lists the ingredients plainly for you to see. I like the sound of Mayblossom and I wonder if that's what gives it such an unusual smell?

This is me (I'd just woken up so excuse the bed hair) with just the moisturiser and and some concealer on. If you don't need to go the whole hog or want to wear foundation, bronzer, blusher etc then I'd just stop here. Unfortunately that's not me and I enjoy going the whole hog!

Because this moisturiser is mainly just for your T-Zone it mattifys the rest of your face and I found it pretty drying but it is the middle of Winter and I have an almighty cold which is playing havoc with my skin so I'm putting it down to that. I'd use my regular 'Jergans' moisturiser for the rest of my face and just the 'Ren' moisturiser on my forehead and nose because like all of 'Ren's products it really does do what it sets out to do. My make up has stayed on all day long. I'm going to get the night serum as soon as I can justify the price tag.
