Bringing back the Bouffant

In the past few months I have discovered backcombing in a BIG way. I never realised how cool big hair was before now and I'm flabbergasted that it's taken me so long to give it a go! It all began one day when I had some flower print trousers on and they were so 'fashion' that everything else kinda needed to step up to the mark and that's when I saw my backcombing comb hiding at the back of my hair pot. So I did a bit of experimenting and voila, my new obsession was born!

Today I went for a hot chocolate with a friend in need and having big hair just felt necessary. Plus I had about four hours to kill. So this is what happened:

I don't know if backcombing freshly washed hair is the best way to get big results but I just love freshly washed hair and it makes everything look softer and more natural. I took one portion of hair on the top and split it into three layers, then backcombed each layer and sprayed with hairspray with a firm hold. I left one section of my fringe out just to stop it looking like I had a helmet head.

Then I combed all three sections backwards into place and kirby-gripped them.

Then I twisted my fringe to the side, fluffed it up a bit at the front and again, kirby-gripped into place.

I curled the 'down' sections with my 'GHD's' and sprayed the whole thing with hairspray but not so much that it went crispy. The aim was to keep everything fluffy and soft so if tendrils fall down don't panic. The whole thing took maybe five minutes and lasted all day long :D
