My shopping rule is two fold:
1. Put it back down, go look at some other shops or go home and if you can't stop thinking about it or get a similar version for less then go back for it and love it forever.
2. If it's been on your wishlist for longer than three weeks then buy it there and then and don't look back.
So the first buy was a practical one in the form of this 'Topshop' laptop case which was £10 in the sale. I have hunted high and low for a case for my huge laptop without much success. All the 'Orla Keily' ones were about £50 and that is far too much for anyone to pay for a laptop case. I wanted one that wouldn't bring too much attention to it in Starbucks and would protect it in my suitcase when I make my journeys from the North to the South and back again but was also glam. Just because it's practical doesn't mean it can't be stylish!
Because my T-Zone balancing moisturiser from 'Ren' was doing such a good job I went back and got the 'Keep Young and Beautiful Anti-Ageing Eye Cream' which was around £20. I hoped it would match 'Even better eyes by Clinique' but be a bit more moisturising and it did the job perfectly! You need barely a pea size for both eyes and I've noticed a massive difference. I'm usually big on eye make up but after using this I've been wearing just a bit of brown eyeshadow and mascara for the daytime and I still look wide awake.
I've needed a bronzing brush for a very long time now as my 'Primark' one just isn't doing it for me. So I went to my favourite make of brushes 'Ecotools'. 'Real Techniques' is a close second but I just love the bamboo handles on these rather than the neon pink and golds and they have the softest bristles going plus it's all naturally sourced materials. This one was £10 but all the brushes last for years.
As I'm off out tonight for a friends birthday I needed some eyelashes. Normally I go for natural ones or just put a few extra layers of mascara on but every so often I get the urge to get super fluttery and in the North fake eyelashes are pretty standard anyway. These were about £5 from 'Eylure'.
I've been looking for a moisturiser to go under my make up and I remembered getting a sample of 'Clinque's Dramaticly Different Moisturising Gel Tube' a while ago and it really did make a difference. So I went in today and had a consultation. I didn't like the sales woman though so after a while I flapped her away and wandered around on my own. Rather than get the moisturiser which was geared towards extra dry skin I went for the oil free gel. The bigger version was around £26 whilst the smaller version was £17 so I went for the smaller.
As much as I tried not to I slipped into my beloved 'Topshop' and had a look around the shoe section. As it's my birthday next week and I was going out tonight I wanted some heels that weren't so tall that I looked like a giant next to my tiny friends and were also different to what I already have (which is pretty much every shoe going). Normally I get my heels from 'New Look' or 'Primark' and I very rarely spend over £30 on them just because they get trodden on when you go out so it's not really worth spending a lot on them. However, these heels were just to gorgeous to pass up even though they were £55. I did what I always do in these kinds of situations and went for a wander for a couple of hours thinking of all the shoes that I already have but I just couldn't stop thinking about these beauties. So I went back, tried them on, chatted to the sales girl and finally pulled out my purse. I got 25% off plus I had a voucher so I ended up paying £35 which I was very happy with and I have to say they are incredibly comfortable!
So that was that.
I didn't buy these but I did fall in love with them when they crept onto my facebook newsfeed. A lot of people thought they looked horrible with the dotty socks but I think the right person could pull these off no problem. They're from 'Topshop' and are on my wishlist for the future.
And this is my very happy 'I've just been shopping' face :)
